Almost every fence in Kyle and Buda was built in the last fifteen years, and a lot of them in the last five. Sunfield, Six Creeks, Crosswinds and the newer sections of Plum Creek went up fast along I-35, and each lot came with the same fence: six feet of builder-grade cedar pickets on a flat lot, unstained, with the neighbor's identical fence on the other side of it. Whispering Hollow and Meadows at Buda are a cycle older, so their fences have already gone gray once and either got stained or did not.
Search for fence staining down here and you get fence companies. That is not a knock on them; building is the hard part. But staining is the part that usually gets done by the same crew on the day the fence goes up, on cedar too wet to take it, or gets skipped and offered "later." We do the later part, and only that. No installs, no repairs beyond swapping a picket, which is what lets us quote from an aerial and a few photos and hold the number.

Sunfield, Six Creeks and Crosswinds are the 2010s and 2020s master-planned builds along I-35, each lot with the same six-foot builder cedar and an association that reviews exterior changes. Plum Creek in Kyle spans both eras, with early-2000s sections on a second cycle and newer ones still bare. Whispering Hollow and Meadows at Buda are 2000s cedar that has already gone gray at least once. Blanco Vista sits at the south end of the corridor toward San Marcos.
Builder cedar in Sunfield, Six Creeks and Plum Creek: what it needs, and when
Builder-grade cedar is real cedar, mostly, but it is thinner, greener and rougher than what a fence company would sell you separately, and it goes in the ground wet. It needs 4–8 weeks to dry down before a penetrating oil stain will do anything; stained the week it went up, the stain sits on the surface and is gone by fall. Left bare, it grays the first summer and starts checking the second. The window is real: about two months after install, before the first full summer. If you closed on a Sunfield house in April, June is the month. Put the install date in the quote form and we book the week the wood is ready.

Flat lots, standard runs, and the fence you share
A Kyle or Buda lot is the easiest fence geometry there is: level ground, 120–160 feet of straight six-foot privacy fence, a gate on the side, nothing to climb. It is also the most shared. Nearly every run has a neighbor on the other side who got the same fence on the same day, which makes "one side or both" the real question here. One side is a genuine improvement and the budget answer. Both sides is the better moisture outcome for the wood, and the neighbor usually splits it if you ask. Either way we stain to the post line so the color stops cleanly.
The one thing to watch on a flat Hays County lot is the sprinkler head six inches from the fence. The clay soil east of I-35 holds water, the bottom rail stays wet, and that is where black mildew and the first soft picket show up. Aim the heads away before we come and the stain lasts longer. We mention it in every Kyle and Buda quote because it matters more here than on a limestone lot.
Whispering Hollow, Meadows at Buda and the second cycle
Buda's 2000s neighborhoods are on the other side of the clock. Those fences have gone gray at least once. If they were stained with a semi-transparent oil years ago, a brighten and re-coat brings them back in a day. If they were never stained, the surface has silvered and the pickets may have cupped, but the wood underneath is usually fine; we brighten it back to tan, let it dry two days, and stain. Why only staining is the right trade for Kyle and Buda
A crew that builds fences makes its money building, and staining is the add-on it fits in around installs, which is why it so often happens the wrong week or with whatever is on the truck. A crew that only stains has one job to get right: clean without furring the cedar, wait the two days, spray a penetrating oil-based stain and back-brush it into the grain, and leave the neighbor's side clean. It is also why the number we text you is firm. The satellite and your photos already told us what we will find, and there is no install to bundle it into.

The standard Kyle or Buda lot, 120–160 feet of six-foot privacy fence stained on your side in a natural cedar tone, lands in the lower half of our range, and that is the most common quote we expect to send down here. Both sides moves it toward the middle. A gray Whispering Hollow fence that needs brightening first moves toward the upper half. Do you build or repair fences in Kyle or Buda?
No. We only stain. If a picket is rotten we swap it so the stain has something to hold, but a leaning fence or soft rails need a fence company first, and we say so from the photos.
My Sunfield fence is two weeks old. Can you stain it now?
