What to look for in a before and after
- Even color across boards. Blotchy panels mean the wood was wet or was never brightened.
- No lap marks. Dark stripes where passes overlapped mean the stain was sprayed in heat and not back-brushed.
- Clean edges. No overspray on stone, siding, or the neighbor's side.
- The bottom rail. The wettest part of any fence. It should match the rest, not look darker or greener.
